“My soul magnifies the Lord,” Mary sang, a young woman with every reason to be afraid. Praise in Scripture is rarely sung from easy circumstances; it is sung through them.
These prayers are for answered prayers, for ordinary days worth thanking God for, and for the practice of gratitude when it doesn’t come naturally.
Psalm 145:1-21
My God and King, I will exalt You and bless Your name forever. Every day I will bless You. You are gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion; You are good to all. You lift up all who are bowed down. You are near to all who call on You in truth, so I call on You now. Hear my cry, open Your hand, and let my mouth declare Your praise. Amen.
