The Gospels are crowded with people who brought their sickness to Jesus: a bleeding woman, a blind beggar, a dying daughter. He never turned one away. Praying for healing is not presumption; it is what the sick have always done at His feet. The prophet’s prayer is still ours: “Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed.”
These prayers are for hospital rooms and quiet worries, for your own body or someone you love, before surgery and through recovery. Pray them as often as you need, and keep going to your doctors: God works through them too.
Jeremiah 17:14
Lord, You are the One who heals. I bring my loved one to You. Heal them, O LORD, and they will be healed; save them, and they will be saved. Give their body rest and strength to recover, and give their doctors wisdom. Lift their spirits on the hard days. You are our praise, Lord, and we trust them to You. Amen.

Lord, I trust in You. You are my God. My times are in Your hands: this day, this surgery, and every moment while I am asleep. Guide the hands and minds of my doctors and nurses. Quiet my fear, and keep my heart at rest in You. When I wake, let me know that I am still held by You. Amen.

Lord, I lift up my loved one as they go into surgery. Sustain them on their bed of illness. Give the surgeons, nurses and the whole care team steady hands, clear minds and wisdom. Calm every fear, theirs and ours. Be near them while they sleep and when they wake. Restore them from their bed of sickness, Lord, and hold all of us in Your peace. Amen.

Comfort them and give them rest, and if it is Your will, restore them and raise them up. Give wisdom and skill to their doctors and nurses, and strength to everyone who cares for them. James tells the church to pray over the sick and to confess and pray for one another. You can pray for a friend by name, ask for specific things (rest tonight, wisdom for the doctors, courage for the scan), and tell them you are praying. A short text that says so is often the prayer they feel most.
