“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault.” Studying is work you do, and wisdom is a gift you can ask for. Scripture invites both.
These prayers are for the night before the test, the first day of school, and the parent praying in the car after drop-off.
Short prayers for school and exams
Daniel 1:17
Lord God, You gave Daniel and his friends knowledge and understanding. I come to You as I prepare for this exam. Help me study faithfully and remember what I have learned. When I sit down for the test, give me a clear mind and a calm heart. Keep panic away. Help me do my honest best, and let my worth rest in You, not in a score. Amen.

Psalm 121:7-8
Lord, as my child goes back to school, I place them in Your care. Guard them from all evil and preserve their soul. Watch over their coming and going, on the bus, in the classroom and on the playground. Give them good friends, kind teachers and a brave heart. Help them learn and grow, and bring them home safe to me. Amen.

James 1:5
Father, I don’t know what to do, and I need Your wisdom. You give generously to all without finding fault, so I can come to You without fear. Show me the next right step. Clear my mind when I study, when I listen, and when I choose. Help me trust You, instead of being tossed back and forth like a wave. Thank You that You hear me. Amen.
