New Year Prayers

“Behold, I make all things new.” A new year doesn’t change who God is, but it is a good moment to look back with thanks and forward with trust.

Here are prayers for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day: for a fresh start, for your family, and for the seasons this year will bring.

Short prayers for the new year

A New Year Prayer

Revelation 21:5

Lord, You sit on the throne and say, I make all things new. I bring You this new year: the hopes I have, the fears I carry, and the things I want to leave behind. Forgive what is past and make me new. Walk with me through every day of this year, and let me trust Your words, faithful and true. Amen.

New Year Prayer for Family

Psalm 65:11

Lord God, You crown the year with Your bounty, and Your paths overflow with plenty. Thank You for carrying our family through the year behind us. As this new year begins, bless each one of us. Guide our steps, provide what we need, and keep us close to one another and to You. Let our home overflow with Your goodness. Amen.

A Time for Everything

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Lord, You hold every season of my life in Your hands. Some days are for weeping and some for laughing, some for tearing down and some for building. Help me see what season I am in now, and live it well instead of fighting it. As something new begins, give me wisdom to know what to keep and what to let go. You make everything beautiful in its time. Amen.
