Grief has no schedule and no script. The Psalms are full of mourning, and God does not ask you to be finished with sorrow before you come to Him. Jesus said: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
These prayers are for the funeral week and for the ordinary Tuesday months later, when the loss catches you again. Each is short enough to pray when words are hard, and rooted in a verse of real comfort.
Revelation 21:4
Lord God, my heart is heavy, and I miss the one I have lost. You see every tear I cry. You have promised a day when You will wipe them all away, when there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. Until that day, stay close to me in my sorrow. Hold me up, and let this hope carry me through. Amen.
