“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Salvation is God’s gift, received by trusting His Son; no form of words earns it. But prayer is how you tell God you are trusting Him, and how you carry the people you love to Him.
Here is a prayer for the day you put your trust in Christ, prayers for family and friends who don’t know Him yet, and the verses the good news rests on. For the whole message step by step, read the Romans Road.
Lord God, I come to You just as I am. I have sinned against You, and I cannot make myself right. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead. I turn from my sin and trust in Him alone. Jesus is Lord, and I give my life to Him. Please forgive me and make me new. Thank You for the gift of salvation, which I could never earn. Help me follow Jesus every day. Amen.
Lord, thank You for Your patience. You do not want anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. I bring You the people I love who do not know You yet. Open their eyes to see Jesus. Soften their hearts, bring Your word near them, and send people into their lives who love You. Make me loving and patient with them, ready to speak of You when the door opens. Draw them home to You. Amen.
Father, You so loved the world that You gave Your one and only Son, and that love reaches all the way to me. I believe in Jesus. Thank You that You did not send Him to condemn me, but to save me. When I doubt Your love, bring me back to these words. Thank You for the eternal life You give, and help me share this good news with someone who needs it. Amen.
Lord Jesus, on the cross You said: it is finished. What I could never fix, You completed for me. Let me stop striving and rest in what Your love has done. Amen.
Father, while I was still far off, You ran to me. I spent so much and came back empty-handed, yet You meet me with open arms. Thank You for calling me home. Amen.
Lord of the harvest, the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few, so I ask You to send out workers into Your harvest. Strengthen the missionaries I know by name, and those only You know. Keep them and their families safe and well. Give them true friends, open doors for the gospel, and let many come to know Jesus through them. Provide for every need, and show me my part: to pray, to give, or to go. Amen.
