Lamentations, a book written in the ruins of a burned city, holds one of Scripture’s most stubborn sentences about hope: “They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!” Hope in the Bible is not optimism. It is choosing to expect God’s goodness again.
These prayers are for gray seasons, fresh starts, and mornings when you need to borrow someone else’s confidence that light is coming.
Romans 15:13
God of hope, fill me with all joy and peace as I believe in You. I have been running on empty, and my hope has worn thin. I cannot make it overflow on my own, so I ask for the power of Your Holy Spirit. Fill me until hope spills over into my home, my work, and the people who need it from me. Amen.

Father, I do not understand what is happening, and some of it hurts. I do not have to pretend it is good. But I believe You are at work in all things for the good of those who love You, and I love You, Lord. Take what I cannot fix and work in it.
