Strength & Courage
When You're Too Weak to Go On
1 Kings 19:7
Lord, I am worn out, and the only prayer I have left is that it would end. Like Elijah under the tree, let me rest in You. Feed me, and gently lead me on. Amen.

“Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you.”
— 1 Kings 19:7
Elijah had just won a dramatic victory over the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, but one death threat from Queen Jezebel sent him running into the wilderness, exhausted and afraid. He collapsed under a broom tree — a scraggly desert shrub offering little real shade — and asked God to let him die. God's answer was not a rebuke but food: an angel woke him twice to eat bread and drink water, saying simply, 'the journey is too great for you.' Only after he was fed and rested did God speak to him in the still small voice at Horeb. This is a prayer for the crash after the victory, when your body and spirit have nothing left to give.
A new voiced prayer each day — for the morning, the commute, the sleepless 3 a.m.
