Mark 5 tells of a woman who had suffered a chronic bleeding condition for twelve years, spending everything she had on physicians without relief. Under Jewish purity law her condition made her ceremonially unclean, meaning years of social isolation from worship and touch. Desperate and out of options, she pressed through a dense crowd pressing in on Jesus, believing that even touching the edge of his cloak would be enough. It was — she was healed instantly, and Jesus, feeling power go out from him, stopped to call her out publicly, telling her, 'your faith has made you well; go in peace.' This is a prayer for anyone who has carried a long, wearying burden in silence and is reaching for hope one more time.
