Forgiveness & Grace
He Didn't Let Me Finish
Luke 15:20
Father, while I was still far off, You ran to me. I spent so much and came back empty-handed, yet You meet me with open arms. Thank You for calling me home. Amen.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.”
— Luke 15:20
Luke 15 records Jesus' parable of the two sons: the younger demands his inheritance early, leaves home, and squanders it all before crawling back, rehearsing an apology and expecting to be treated as a hired servant. But 'while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him' — before the son even finishes his prepared speech. In a culture where a dignified older man did not run, the father's sprint down the road is the shock of the story: he closes the distance himself, before any explanation or penance is offered. This is a prayer for coming back after you've made a mess of something, when you expect to have to earn your way back into love and instead find it already running toward you.
A new voiced prayer each day — for the morning, the commute, the sleepless 3 a.m.
