About this picture

A sunny courtyard in Bethany under a grapevine. Jesus sits on a cushioned bench teaching, and Mary sits at His feet, listening. Martha, in an apron, carries a tray of cups past the clay oven with its round flat breads, the pots and pans on hooks, the hanging herbs and garlic, and a table of olives, figs, grapes and pomegranates. A cat, hens and chicks, a lemon tree and water jars fill the corners. Luke 10 tells how Martha was busy with all the preparations, and Jesus told her that Mary had chosen the good portion.

Every round hides five differences, picked at random from about a dozen painted into this scene, so playing it again gives you a new set. Tap a difference on either picture to circle it; pinch or tap 🔍 to look closer. Free, with no download and no account.

The story

As they traveled along, Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to His message. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you are worried and upset about many things. But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.”Luke 10:38–42 (BSB)
