About this plan
This plan reads the New Testament in order, balanced by words, so each day takes about the same time. You will read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the first month, Acts and Romans in the second, and the letters and Revelation in the third.
It is a good plan for a new believer’s first full read, for a church season like Lent or the weeks before Easter, or for anyone who wants to know the life of Jesus and the early church well.
How to keep going
- Pray before you read. Ask God to open your eyes to His word. If you want words to start with, here is a prayer before reading the Bible.
- Same time, same place. Tie your reading to something you already do every day: the first coffee, the lunch break, the last ten minutes before bed.
- Write one line. After reading, jot down one verse that stood out and one sentence about it. Some people use S.O.A.P.: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer.
- Read with someone. Share the link with a friend, your spouse or your small group and read the same plan. A short message (“Day 12 done!”) keeps both of you going.
- Missed a day? Keep going. Read today’s reading and catch up on a weekend, or just carry on. The aim is not a perfect checklist but time with God in His word.
Questions
How many chapters a day is the New Testament in 90 days?
About three. The New Testament has 260 chapters; this plan balances days by length, so some days are two long chapters and some are four or five short ones.
How long does it take each day?
About 10–13 minutes at an easy pace: the New Testament is about 170,000 words in the BSB.
Should I read the New Testament before the Old Testament?
Many new Christians start with the New Testament because it is about Jesus. The Old Testament makes it richer, so after this, a full Bible plan or the chronological plan is a good next step.
