About this plan
This is a sprint. Each day is about 8,100 words, roughly 40–54 minutes of reading, balanced by length so the days are even. Many people read the Bible in 90 days during a season set apart: January to March, Lent, or a summer.
Expect to read whole books in a sitting: Genesis in four days, the Gospel of Mark in one. Reading fast shows connections a slow plan hides, like the promise to Abraham echoing through the prophets and into the Gospels.
How to keep going
- Pray before you read. Ask God to open your eyes to His word. If you want words to start with, here is a prayer before reading the Bible.
- Same time, same place. Tie your reading to something you already do every day: the first coffee, the lunch break, the last ten minutes before bed.
- Write one line. After reading, jot down one verse that stood out and one sentence about it. Some people use S.O.A.P.: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer.
- Read with someone. Share the link with a friend, your spouse or your small group and read the same plan. A short message (“Day 12 done!”) keeps both of you going.
- Missed a day? Keep going. Read today’s reading and catch up on a weekend, or just carry on. The aim is not a perfect checklist but time with God in His word.
Questions
How many chapters a day is the Bible in 90 days?
About 13 chapters a day on average (1,189 chapters over 90 days). This plan balances days by words, so a day may be 8 long chapters or 20 short ones.
How long does it take each day?
About 40–54 minutes at an easy pace, around 8,100 words a day. Listening to an audio Bible at the same time can help on busy days.
Is 90 days too fast to understand the Bible?
It is a different kind of reading: you see the big story and its connections rather than studying each verse. Many readers do a 90-day read once, then a slower plan for depth.
