About this plan
One chapter a day takes about 3–4 minutes, which makes this the easiest plan to keep. It reads the New Testament in order: the four Gospels, Acts, Paul’s letters, the other letters and Revelation.
Weekends have no reading on purpose. Use Saturday or Sunday to catch up on a missed day, reread the chapter that stayed with you, or talk about the week’s reading with a friend or your small group.
How to keep going
- Pray before you read. Ask God to open your eyes to His word. If you want words to start with, here is a prayer before reading the Bible.
- Same time, same place. Tie your reading to something you already do every day: the first coffee, the lunch break, the last ten minutes before bed.
- Write one line. After reading, jot down one verse that stood out and one sentence about it. Some people use S.O.A.P.: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer.
- Read with someone. Share the link with a friend, your spouse or your small group and read the same plan. A short message (“Day 12 done!”) keeps both of you going.
- Missed a day? Keep going. Read today’s reading and catch up on a weekend, or just carry on. The aim is not a perfect checklist but time with God in His word.
Questions
How long does it take to read the New Testament?
About 14–19 hours in all. At one chapter a weekday it takes a year; at three chapters a day it takes about three months (see the New Testament in 90 Days plan).
Why one chapter a day?
Because it is short enough to keep. A chapter takes about 3–4 minutes, so missing a day is easy to make up, and a whole year of small days adds up to the whole New Testament.
What happens on weekends?
Nothing is scheduled. Catch up, reread, or rest. The tracker counts weekdays only, so a weekend never puts you behind.
Other reading plans
Every chapter on this page is the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), word for word. Its publishers dedicated it to the public domain, so the whole text is here for you to read, free.
