Mark 4:39
Lord, in the storm I have fought all night, I hear You rise and speak: peace, be still. Quiet the wind in me. Still the waves I cannot calm. Thank You that You are in my boat, and the storm knows Your voice. I rest in You now. Amen.

Mark 4 places Jesus and his disciples crossing the Sea of Galilee at evening when a violent squall hits — a lake known for storms that could rise suddenly out of the surrounding hills. Jesus was asleep in the stern while experienced fishermen bailed water and feared for their lives. When they woke him, he didn't first calm the men; he spoke directly to the storm: 'Peace! Be still!' and the wind and sea obeyed instantly, leaving 'a great calm.' The disciples' fear of the storm turned into a deeper astonishment at who was in the boat with them. This prayer is for the nights the storm has already been raging for hours and you're too worn out to keep fighting it alone — for when you need his voice, not just your own effort, to bring the calm.
