Anxiety & Fear
The Voice That Stilled the Storm
Mark 4:39
Jesus, the storm is loud and I fear You do not care. But You stood and said: peace, be still. Speak those words over me now, and quiet what rages within. Amen.
Anxiety & Fear
Mark 4:39

“Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
— Mark 4:39
This is the same storm from Mark 4, on the Sea of Galilee, where a sudden squall left the disciples convinced they were about to drown while Jesus slept undisturbed nearby. Their cry, recorded just before this verse, was 'Teacher, do not you care that we are perishing?' — the honest accusation of people who feel abandoned in danger. Jesus' response was two words of command, 'Peace, be still,' spoken with the same authority he used to teach and to heal, and the sea went instantly calm. What the disciples took away wasn't just relief but a new and unsettling question about who this man really was, that even wind and sea obeyed him. This prayer is for the moment fear has convinced you God doesn't care, and you need him to speak peace over whatever is raging inside you.
A new voiced prayer each day — for the morning, the commute, the sleepless 3 a.m.
