The Bible story
Samuel Anoints David
God sent Samuel to Bethlehem to anoint one of Jesse’s sons as the next king. Jesse’s tall older sons came first, but God told Samuel that He looks at the heart. The youngest, David, was out keeping the sheep, and he was the one God had chosen.
So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day forward.
