Forgiveness & Grace
Your Sins Are Forgiven
Mark 2:5
Lord, I keep punishing myself for what You have already forgiven. You spoke it before I could earn it — my sins are forgiven. Help me believe it, and finally set it down. Amen.

“Your sins are forgiven.”
— Mark 2:5
Mark 2 tells of a paralyzed man whose friends, unable to get him through the crowd around the house where Jesus was teaching, dug through the roof and lowered him down on his mat. Jesus's first words to him are not about his legs but his soul: 'Your sins are forgiven.' It startled the religious leaders present, who understood only God could forgive sin — which was exactly Jesus's point, proven moments later when He also healed the man's body. The forgiveness came first, spoken before the man asked for it and before he'd done anything to earn it, simply because Jesus saw the faith that carried him there. This is a prayer for carrying guilt you've already been forgiven for and refusing to set it down.
A new voiced prayer each day — for the morning, the commute, the sleepless 3 a.m.
