Forgiveness & Grace
They Tore the Roof Off
Mark 2:5
Jesus, I cannot get to You on my own, and I stopped praying long ago. Thank You for the friends who carry me to You. Forgive me, lift me up, and let me walk again. Amen.

“Jesus saw their faith.”
— Mark 2:5
Mark 2 describes a house in Capernaum so packed with people listening to Jesus that four friends carrying a paralyzed man couldn't get near the door. Rather than give up, they climbed onto the flat roof, common in that region's architecture, and dug through it to lower their friend down on his mat directly in front of Jesus. Mark specifically notes that Jesus responded to their faith, not only the paralyzed man's — 'when Jesus saw their faith.' The friends' persistence became the vehicle for someone else's healing and forgiveness, when the man himself may have had no way to reach Jesus alone. This is a prayer for anyone who cannot get themselves to God right now and needs to lean on the faith of people who are carrying them.
A new voiced prayer each day — for the morning, the commute, the sleepless 3 a.m.
