Who Touched My Garments?

Mark 5:30-34

Mark 5:30-34 is the moment Jesus stops in a pressing crowd and asks, “Who touched My garments?” The woman who had touched Him comes trembling and tells Him the whole truth. “Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction.”

Lord Jesus, like the woman who fell trembling before You, I bring You the whole truth. You stopped and looked for her, and You see me too. Heal my affliction, and let me go in peace. Amen.

The Scripture

“At once Jesus was aware that power had gone out from Him. Turning to the crowd, He asked, “Who touched My garments?” His disciples answered, “You can see the crowd pressing in on You, and yet You ask, ‘Who touched Me?’” But He kept looking around to see who had done this. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him trembling in fear, and she told Him the whole truth. “Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction.””

About this verse

In Mark 5, Jesus is on His way to the house of Jairus, a synagogue leader whose little daughter is near death, and a large crowd follows and presses around Him. In that crowd is a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years. She had spent all she had on many physicians, and her condition had only grown worse. She came up behind Jesus and touched His cloak, for she kept saying, “If only I touch His garments, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped. Jesus, aware that power had gone out from Him, turned and asked, “Who touched My garments?” His disciples pointed to the crowd, but He kept looking around. The woman came and fell down before Him trembling in fear, and she told Him the whole truth. Jesus called her “Daughter,” told her that her faith had healed her, and sent her away in peace. It is a prayer for anyone who feels unseen, ashamed, or worn out by a long struggle.
