Comfort & Not Alone

Like Trees Walking

Mark 8:22-25

Mark 8:22-25 is the moment Jesus heals a blind man at Bethsaida in two touches. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. The man looked up and said, “I can see the people, but they look like trees walking around.” Once again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and when he opened them his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly.

Lord Jesus, You took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. When he saw only in part, You placed Your hands on him again. Where I see dimly, touch me again, until I see everything clearly. Amen.

The Scripture

“When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then He spit on the man’s eyes and placed His hands on him. “Can you see anything?” He asked. The man looked up and said, “I can see the people, but they look like trees walking around.” Once again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and when he opened them his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly.”

  3. Ask Him to touch you again where you see only in part.

  5. Pray for someone who does not yet see who Jesus is.
  6. Trust Him to finish what He has started in you.

About this verse

Just before this, Jesus has warned His disciples about the leaven of the Pharisees and asked them, “Do you still not understand?” They have eyes but do not yet see who He is. Then they arrive at Bethsaida, and some people bring a blind man and beg Jesus to touch him. Jesus takes him by the hand and leads him out of the village Himself. He spits on the man’s eyes, places His hands on him, and asks if he can see anything. The man sees people, but they look like trees walking around. So Jesus places His hands on his eyes once again, and now he sees everything clearly. Right after this, Peter will say, “You are the Christ.” It is a prayer for anyone who sees God’s work in their life only in part, and wants Him to keep going until they see clearly.
