About this painting

Jesus kneels in ripe wheat in early light and reaches for a hand that comes into the painting from below, as if to help you up. It goes with the parable of the wheat and the weeds in Matthew 13: an enemy sows weeds among a farmer's wheat, and the farmer tells his servants not to pull them up, but to let both grow together until the harvest. In the app it is called Let Both Grow Together.

Choose 8 or 15 big pieces for a few quiet minutes, or 45 and 60 for a longer sit. Each piece turns from grey to full color as it lands and rings the next note of Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow. Free, with no download, no account and no ads; your place is saved in this browser.

The passage

Jesus put before them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and slipped away. When the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the weeds also appeared. The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. So the servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ ‘No,’ he said, ‘if you pull the weeds now, you might uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat into my barn.’”Matthew 13:24–30 (BSB)

A prayer to finish with

Lord, I keep trying to rip out every part of myself that looks like a weed. Thank You that You don't wait for the harvest to judge me — You already see the wheat You are quietly growing in me. Let both grow together, Lord, until the day You call it finished. I trust Your patience over my own impatience. Amen.
