The Bible story

Jesus in the Wilderness

After His baptism, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where He fasted forty days and forty nights. The devil tempted Him three times, and each time Jesus answered with the words of Scripture. Then the devil left Him, and angels came and served Him.

But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
— Matthew 4:4 (BSB)
