Matthew 28 opens on the third day after the crucifixion, when women arrive at Jesus' tomb expecting to find a sealed grave guarded by Roman soldiers — the tomb had been secured precisely because religious leaders feared some kind of deception. Instead, an earthquake, an angel rolling back the stone, and the words 'He is not here, for he has risen, as he said' meet them. The guards, hardened soldiers, are described as shaking with fear and becoming like dead men. Nothing about the scene was staged or expected; the sealing of the tomb was meant to be final, and it wasn't. This prayer is for the places in your own life that feel sealed shut — grief, failure, a situation you've declared over — and need the same kind of unexpected breakthrough.
