Ephesians 6 was written by Paul, likely while under house arrest in Rome, describing the Christian life as a battle and calling believers to put on the 'whole armor of God' — truth, righteousness, readiness, faith, salvation, the Spirit — piece by piece, the way a Roman soldier would suit up. The goal Paul names is striking: not to win a decisive victory or conquer new ground, but simply 'having done all, to stand firm.' In a day where the fight was fierce, survival itself — staying upright, not being knocked down — counted as success. This is a prayer for the end of a day where you didn't accomplish much or win anything, but you made it through still on your feet, and that itself deserves to be recognized as enough.
