Psalm 46:10
Psalm 46:10 is God Himself speaking in a song of the sons of Korah: amid raging nations and a shaking earth, He tells His people to be still and know that He is God.
Lord, You say to me, “Be still and know that I am God.” So I stop. I lay down my hurry, my noise and my need to control what happens next. You are God, and I am not. You will be exalted among the nations and over the earth, and over this day of mine too. Quiet my heart, and let me know You. Amen.

Psalm 46 opens with mountains falling into the sea and nations in uproar. Then, near the end, the voice changes and God speaks: “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted over the earth.” The words come right after the verse where God makes wars cease and “breaks the bow and shatters the spear,” so be still here is a call to lay down our own fighting and let Him act, as well as a call to quiet. The verse doesn’t ask us to feel calm first. It tells us who God is, and calm grows from knowing Him. The psalm then ends, “The LORD of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” This prayer is for anyone who is anxious, overbusy or trying to hold everything together, and needs to stop and let God be God.
