Philippians 4:13 is one of the most quoted verses in the Bible, and one of the most misunderstood outside its context. Paul writes it from a Roman prison, thanking the Philippian church for a gift they sent him, and explains that he has 'learned the secret' of being content whether he has plenty or almost nothing. The 'all things' he can do through Christ are not victories or achievements — they are enduring both abundance and hunger, comfort and hardship, with the same steadiness. Read in its prison setting, this is not a verse about winning; it is about a peace that doesn't depend on circumstances changing. This is a prayer for anyone facing hardship who needs strength to endure it rather than escape from it.
