I Am the Good Shepherd
John 10:11
Jesus, You are the good shepherd who lays down Your life for the sheep. You call me by name and I know Your voice. When I stray, find me and carry me home. Amen.

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
— John 10:11
John 10:11 is one of Jesus' seven 'I Am' statements, spoken to a crowd familiar with shepherding as an everyday trade rather than a poetic metaphor. In that setting, hired hands would flee at the first sign of danger, since the sheep weren't theirs to lose — but a shepherd who owned the flock would risk his life for it. Jesus draws that exact contrast: He is not a hired hand but the good shepherd, willing to lay down His life for the sheep. Earlier in the same chapter He says His sheep hear His voice and He calls them each by name, describing a relationship of intimate knowledge, not distant management. This is a prayer for anyone who feels like they've wandered, gotten lost, or forgotten whose voice to listen for.
A new voiced prayer each day — for the morning, the commute, the sleepless 3 a.m.
