In Matthew 11 Jesus extends perhaps the gentlest invitation in Scripture — to people crushed not by pagan Rome but by religion itself. The teachers of the day had stacked burden upon burden: rules for the rules, weight the weary were told was holiness. 'Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden' was addressed to the exhausted-by-trying. The rest he offers is not a nap but an exchange: his yoke — a wooden frame carved to fit an ox's shoulders — custom-fit, shared, light. You still walk, but no longer alone and no longer crushed. This prayer is for the tiredness sleep doesn't fix: caregiver fatigue, burnout, the invisible load you've carried so long you forgot you were carrying it.
