All Things Are Possible with God

Mark 10:26-27

Mark 10:26-27 is Jesus' answer to His astonished disciples. They asked one another, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”

Lord Jesus, some things in my life look impossible to me. You said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” I trust You with what I cannot do. Amen.

Mark 10:26-27 is Jesus' answer to His astonished disciples. They asked one another, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”

The Scripture

Prayer points from Mark 10:26-27

  1. Name the one thing that looks impossible, and give it to Him.
  2. Admit honestly what you cannot do on your own.
  3. Thank Him that what is impossible with man is not impossible with God.
  4. Pray for someone whose salvation feels out of reach.
  5. Ask Him to loosen your grip on what you hold too tightly.
  6. Trust Him to do what only He can do.

About this verse

Earlier in Mark 10, a man runs up to Jesus, kneels before Him, and asks what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus looks at him, loves him, and tells him to sell everything he owns, give to the poor, and come follow Him. The man goes away in sorrow, because he has great wealth. Then Jesus looks around and tells His disciples how hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God, and that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. The disciples are even more astonished and ask one another who then can be saved. Jesus does not soften His words. He looks at them and points them to God: what is impossible with man is not impossible with God. It is a prayer for anyone facing something they cannot fix or carry on their own, and who wants to trust God with it.
