How to play
In Tell the story, the Christmas story unfolds in six short chapters. Each one opens with a verse and hands you the figures in it: Joseph, Mary and the donkey on the road to Bethlehem; the baby in the manger; the shepherds and their flock; the angel; the star; and the wise men with their gifts. Set them anywhere in the stable. When the last of the wise men arrives, the angels sing.
In Build freely, every figure is yours from the start. Either way, you finish with a Christmas card: add your own greeting, save it or send it.
The story
She wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.Luke 2:7 (BSB)
Today in the city of David a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord!Luke 2:11 (BSB)
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests!Luke 2:14 (BSB)
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with great delight.Matthew 2:10 (BSB)
A note for the curious: Matthew says the wise men found the child “on coming to the house,” probably some time after the birth. Nativity scenes have brought them to the manger for centuries, and so do we. The ox and the donkey come from the same tradition, with a nod to Isaiah 1:3.
Good for
Advent evenings with the kids, a Sunday school Christmas lesson on the big screen, and a Christmas card that is actually about Christmas.
