John 16:33
Lord, the fear keeps telling me it is all falling apart. But You already said You have overcome the world. Quiet my heart with that tonight — You are not worried, and You are holding me. Amen.

John 16 records Jesus's final extended teaching to his disciples the night before his crucifixion, preparing them for his departure and for the trouble they would soon face — his arrest, their scattering, and years of persecution ahead. He doesn't promise them an easy road: 'in the world you will have trouble.' But he pairs that honesty with a declaration of victory already secured: 'take heart; I have overcome the world.' The confidence isn't that hardship will be avoided, but that it has already been outlasted by Christ before it even arrives for them. This is a prayer for facing real, ongoing trouble while still choosing courage over fear.
