Comfort & Not Alone

See the Place He Made for You

John 14:2-3

Father, thank You for the place You have prepared for me. When I feel like I don't belong anywhere, remind me — You built a room for me. I am wanted. I am expected. Come back for me, Lord. I'll be here. Amen.

The Scripture

“In My Father's house are many rooms. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.”

— John 14:2-3

About this verse

John 14 opens the same night as Jesus's last supper with His disciples, right after He has told them He is about to leave. Their hearts are troubled — He is their teacher, their center, and He's saying goodbye. Into that fear He speaks of His Father's house having 'many rooms,' a phrase evoking a large family home where a returning son would add on space for his household. He tells them He is going ahead not to abandon them but to prepare a specific place and then come back for them personally, so that where He is, they will be too. It is a promise of belonging spoken directly into the fear of being left behind. This is a prayer for feeling unwanted, uprooted, or like you don't have a place anywhere.
