Anxiety & Fear

Do Not Fear, for I Am with You

Isaiah 41:10

Isaiah 41:10 says: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” The LORD speaks it to Israel, His chosen servant.

Lord God, You say to me, “Do not fear, for I am with you.” I am afraid today, and I need to hear it again. You are my God. Strengthen me where I am weak. Help me where I cannot help myself. Hold me up with Your righteous right hand, so that even when I cannot stand, I am still held by You. Amen.

Isaiah 41:10 says: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” The LORD speaks it to Israel, His chosen servant.

The Scripture

— Isaiah 41:10

Prayer points from Isaiah 41:10

  1. Tell God plainly what you are afraid of.
  2. Thank Him that He is with you, right where you are.
  3. Say it back to Him: You are my God.
  4. Ask Him to strengthen you for today.
  5. Ask Him for the specific help you need.
  6. Rest in His promise to uphold you with His righteous right hand.

About this verse

In Isaiah 41 the LORD speaks to His people Israel. He calls them His servant, Jacob whom He has chosen, the descendants of Abraham His friend. He reminds them that He brought them from the ends of the earth, and that He has chosen them and not rejected them. Then come five promises in a single verse: do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. The verses around it speak of those who rage against Israel and wage war against them, and God even calls His people few. So the promise does not rest on how strong they are, but on who He is. A few verses later He says it once more: He is the LORD who takes hold of your right hand and tells you not to fear, because He will help you. It is a prayer for anyone who is afraid and needs to be held.
