Comfort & Not Alone
Greater Love
John 15:13
Jesus, You showed the greatest love by laying down Your life for Your friends. Thank You for those who gave everything, and for the love that held them. Teach me to love like that. Amen.

“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”
— John 15:13
John 15:13 comes from Jesus' final teaching to His disciples on the night before His crucifixion, part of the extended discourse where He calls them friends rather than servants. He defines the greatest possible love not as a feeling but as an action: laying down one's life for another. Jesus spoke these words knowing He was about to do exactly that. Over time, this verse has become the language believers reach for whenever someone gives everything for the sake of others — most often, in the American context, on Memorial Day, remembering those who died in military service. It honors sacrifice without glorifying violence, framing costly love as the highest measure of devotion. This is a prayer for remembering, honoring, and grieving those who gave their lives for others.
A new voiced prayer each day — for the morning, the commute, the sleepless 3 a.m.
