Comfort & Not Alone

From Every Quarter

Mark 1:43-45

This happened right after Jesus healed a man with leprosy in Galilee: Jesus told him to tell no one and go to the priest, but the man spread the news, and people came to Jesus from every quarter (Mark 1:43-45).

Lord Jesus, wherever You are, I will come to You. Even in the quiet places, I will look for You. Find me there. Amen.

The Scripture

“Jesus promptly sent him away with a stern warning: “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” But the man went out and openly began to proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him from every quarter.”

— Mark 1:43-45

Prayer points from Mark 1:43-45

  1. Thank Jesus for what He has already done for you.
  2. Ask Him for wisdom about when to speak of it and when to obey quietly.
  3. Tell Him you will come to Him wherever He is, even in the solitary places.
  4. Ask Him to meet you in your own quiet places.
  5. Pray for people who are looking for Him from far away.
  6. Ask for a heart that keeps coming back to Him, not only when you need something.

About this verse

Jesus had just reached out, touched a man with leprosy, and made him clean. He sent him away at once with a stern warning: “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” The Law of Moses set out how a person healed of a skin disease was to be brought to the priest and declared clean, so the man could return to the life he had been shut out of. But the man went out and openly began to proclaim and spread the news. Because of that, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, and He stayed out in solitary places. Earlier in the same chapter Jesus had gone out to a solitary place to pray. Now the solitary places were where He stayed, and still Mark says, “Yet people came to Him from every quarter.” This is a prayer for when Jesus seems far off or hard to reach, and you want to come to Him anyway.
