How to play Bible Wordle
Guess the hidden five-letter word from the Bible in six tries. Type any English word and press Enter. Each letter changes color to show how close you are:
- Green: the letter is in the word and in the right spot (H).
- Gold: the letter is in the word, but in a different spot (M).
- Gray: the letter isn’t in the word at all (Y, N, S).
Use what the colors tell you to narrow it down. A letter can appear twice. The ◐ button switches to orange and blue if green and gold are hard to tell apart.
What kind of words?
Every answer is a word you can find in the Bible: people, from the patriarchs to the apostles; places, from the rivers of Eden to the stops on Paul’s journeys; animals; things from the tabernacle, the fields and the fishing boats; and words from well-loved verses about grace, faith and peace. When the game is over you’ll see who or what the word is, and the verse where it appears.
Today’s Bible word, or unlimited practice
Everyone gets the same Bible Wordle on the same day, so you can compare with family and friends; a new word comes out at midnight wherever you are. Win every day to keep your streak going.
One a day not enough? Practice is unlimited Bible Wordle: a random Bible word every time, as many as you like, and it doesn’t touch your streak.
Stuck on today’s answer?
Tap 💡 Hint to find out what kind of word it is: a person, a place, an animal, something in nature, an object or a food, or a word from a well-known verse. If all six tries run out, the answer is shown with its verse, so the round still teaches you something.
For Sunday school and families
Put it on a big screen and guess together: one child types, the class calls out letters. The hint helps younger players, and the verse afterwards is a ready-made talking point. Practice mode gives you a fresh word for every group.
Questions
Which Bible translation do you use?
The verses come word for word from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), a modern English translation that is free for everyone to use. Every answer appears in it.
When does the new word come out?
At midnight in your own time zone. Your streak counts the days you solve the day’s word.
Do I need an account?
No. Your games, streak and statistics are kept in this browser on this device. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to buy.
Are plurals allowed?
You can guess any common five-letter English word, plurals included, plus Bible names and places. A few answers are plurals or verb forms when that is how the word appears in a well-known verse.
